The Vatican, which has its own currency, citizenship, flag and media outlets, measures just over 44 ha (100 acres) and has a population of approximately 800 people, including Cardinals, clergy members, Swiss guards and lay persons. The walled area contains St. Peter's Basilica and Square, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel.

There is some dispute over who built the Pantheon, dating back to 27 BC. The height and the diameter equal each other at 43.3 metres, and each of the 16 columns is a single piece of stone.

Tomb of Saint Peter

The Tomb of Saint Peter is believed to be the last resting place of the apostle considered the first pope. The location isn't as easy to get to as most attractions in Rome, and tours to the tomb must arranged made in advance, but this site is considered as holy as the basilica built above it.
